Is Milk Powder safe for Babies?

September 18, 2008 by: admin

Not all mothers are able or willing to breastfeed their babies, especially after 2 months, and milk powder is a safe, effective and easy to use option that will give babies all the nourishment they need to grow healthy and strong.

There are many different brands of milk powder available from chemists and supermarkets, and although there is not much difference between the brands themselves in terms of quality, you will need to make sure you select a milk powder that is suitable for your baby’s age group. You will also need to make sure you follow the instructions for making up the milk powder carefully, and most tins come with their own measuring spoons to help you with this. Mixtures that are too strong or two weak can be unpalatable and your baby may refuse to take them, and they could also make them sick.

If you are using milk powder then it is important to follow a strict health and hygiene routine. Always sterilise bottles and teats before you use them, and mix the powder up in advance with freshly boiled water, and leave to cool in the fridge or under cold running water before using them.

I prefer natural breast milk over powder milk.Natural breast milk contains all the necessary nutrients required for the proper growth of the infant. No milk powder or any formula is better than natural breast milk.
