Have you ever been on a doctor’s visit where you have to explain seemingly your entire medical history? This is all too common the case with the existing medical records system. Fortunately, there are technological breakthroughs coming to this part of the medical world that will make things easier on us all. One example is the Dell emr system.

The term, EMR, stands for electronic medical records. These records are part of a system that creates digital files of your medical records rather than the paper files currently kept in doctor’s offices. Paper records are fine to an extent, but they do not always work as quickly or effectively as we would like them too. When records are on paper and have to be transmitted from one doctor’s office to the next, errors can be made. Those errors are usually minor, but minor problems can prove fatal in the medical industry.

The Dell EMR system is not just for doctor’s offices. This system can be used in all hospitals and any other medical facilities. An advantage here is the ability to pass along information to those with the authority to look at it quickly and efficiently. Others have looked at the EMR system as a way of conducting large bodies of research in the future. With enough medical information stored on these types of systems, researchers can view statistical data about medical histories for large groups of people. Those histories can then be turned into data that may be used by others who work to figure out the source of diseases and other life saving measures. This kind of thing is still a work in process, but with more health facilities than ever moving to electronic data storage, it is a very exciting possibility.

High cholesterol can drastically increase the risk of cardiovascular health problems, especially in later life, and in many cases there are no symptoms to high cholesterol so unless you have a specific test you may not even realize you have the condition.

Plant Sterols
There has been a lot of research into the health benefits of plant sterols over the last 5 years, and the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) has backed results that show that plant sterols can produce positive results on lowering cholesterol, when combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Plant sterols are basically phytochemical compounds that are commonly found in many plants such as wheat, sesame and Brussels sprouts, and when these plants are broken down by the body during digestion the sterols compete with cholesterol for absorption into the body. This means that the body actually absorbs less cholesterol, because sterols are effectively blocking them. Research has shown that plant sterols have no negative effects on the body, but if you have a pre-existing condition or are pregnant or lactating then you may want consult you health advisor before increasing your consumption of plant sterols.

It can be difficult to absorb enough plant sterols from a regular diet to produce these beneficial blocking effects though and this is why products such as MonaVie Pulse Juice can be beneficial. MonaVie Pulse contains concentrated plant sterols (0.8g per 4oz of juice) to help lower cholesterol, and the key plant ingredient is acai berry, which is well known for its powerful antioxidant phytonutrients. Acai also has a number other health benefits as well, including a complex carbohydrates that release energy slowly, abundant vitamins and minerals and also dietary fibre which can help to maintain a healthy digestive system.

You can find out more about Monavie here – MonaVie Pulse ; there is a wealth of information on the health benefits of this product, as well as a detailed list on the product ingredients.
However there are some ways you can relieve this problem, so there is no need to suffer unnecessary, and you should speak to your doctor to get further advice before you try any treatments.

How to Stop Sweating Excessively

Mainstream products such as over the counter antiperspirants and deodorants simply are not powerful enough to provide effective relief from excessive sweating, and so you will need to look into more aggressive treatments such as:

Prescription antiperspirants – your doctor will be able to provide a strong antiperspirant such as aluminum chloride (brand names include Driclor® and Anhydrol Forte), which works by effectively blocking the sweat glands. Antiperspirants are only really effective on the armpit areas, as although it can be used on the hands and soles of the feet it does rub off quickly, lessening its effectiveness. Also antiperspirants can be useful for excessive facial sweating, but you must be careful not to get it in your eyes or on the delicate mucus membranes of the mouth and nose, and as it is a very strong substance it can cause some irritation and so is not really recommended for this use.

Botulinum Toxin Injections (Botox) – this is an effective temporary measure for excessive sweating which can be useful if you have a special event or holiday planned and want to make sure that sweating does not ruin your time. Basically Botox is injected into the affected areas and numbs the sweat glands so that they stop overacting and causing excessive sweating. Botox is very effective on armpit sweating, but is not recommended for hand or facial sweating as it can numb some of the small surrounding muscles as well, which can cause problems with basic motor skills. Botox can last for around 6 -12 months before the treatment needs repeating, and is not recommended for long term use as it can cause some side effects, and in a few rare cases people can experience a severe allergic reaction to the toxin.

Iontophoresis – this treatment is very effective for excessive sweating on the hands and feet and involves low electrical pulse stimulation that is designed to block the internal nervous system triggers that causes the sweat glands to overreact. The electric pulse is introduced through a water bath and the feet or hands are immersed and then treated for around 20 -40 minutes and this must repeated every 1 to 3 weeks until the symptoms are relieved. Unfortunately Iontophoresis does not work for everyone, and can cause a few side effects such as dizziness, pins and needles and a dry mouth for around 2 hours after each treatment.
