What is Alzheimer’s Disease?
Alzheimer’s Disease affects over half of all dementia sufferers, and is thought to be caused by an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain, resulting in a loss of brain cells. This leads to significant degeneration of mental abilities, resulting in serious problems with short-term memory, general lethargy and withdrawal and an inability and disinterest in basic daily routines such as eating and personal hygiene.
